Well I had my first final today. No, it isn't finals week, but my life is pretty busy. I'm flying to Detroit (on business) on Wednesday morning and I won't be back until Monday night, so all of my finals had to be rescheduled. Ugh. It is, however, a great way to start off the summer, primarily for two reasons:

1. I'm flying for free. My grandma has over 100,000 frequent flyer miles that she never uses so she bought Erin and I our plane tickets . . . FIRST CLASS!
2. I'll be on a plane, making money, and enjoying Detroit with some good friends while some not so good friends are still taking finals. Ha!

Anyway, i'll see all of my fellow Murrietans when I get back. Hopefully you will all be in town. I'll still be living at my apartment for the summer - the lease isn't up until mid-August, but i'm sure i'll be down in the big M from time to time. Since my pad is available, however, I suggest we throw some parties reminiscent of the barf fest that I held over spring break (read: Sean ruining my dish scrubbers and Danny plugging my bathroom sink for a good week and a half. Thanks guys).

The Lighthouse's Tale

I've come to the conclusion that this blog will have no real theme or direction, but will be updated whimsically on any and all topics to keep me busy.

Today's topic is a band called Nickel Creek. Though originally created as a bluegrass band, their music expands on those influences by incorporating Beatles-flavored psychedelia, left-of-center alt rock, pop, folk and more. They've basically created a new genre all their own called newgrass. No, this band does not incorporate a banjo (rejoice?). Now, have you ever been so sad or upset that you wanted to cry, but just couldn't for some reason? Listen to "The Lighthouse's Tale." The song is probably one of the most original, quirky and tragic songs i've heard. The song is narrated and/or sung in a Lighthouse's perspective, and the soft vocals paint a vivid image in your head during the entire song.

Anyway, i'm tired and just getting used to this blog thing. If you've never heard of Nickel Creek, i'm not surprised. But do yourself a favor and at least download that one song of theirs (plenty of people have it on Limewire, I haven't checked SLSK).

Just testing out this template. No real blogging for now.
